About Me

My business and passions are all about managing finances. The seed for FinSorting.com was planted many years ago when I worked in the dot com industry. A company I was with offered a 401k plan to all employees with a matching program, yet many employees did not participate in it. And for all the typical reasons:

- “I don’t want to reduce my take-home pay”
- “I’m too young, and am not worried about retirement now”
- “I want to be able to access my money”...the list goes on.

I was so surprised and knew that these folks just didn’t appreciate some basic, yet powerful financial realities like:

1) one day, we all stop working (well, the vast majority of us!)
2) there’s “free” money being left on the table
3) many times the impact on take-home pay isn’t very noticeable

To add to this, I watched my own father struggle financially when he retired - for lack of planning. He had worked earnestly for decades as a manufacturing engineer and served for many years in the army, but he hadn’t planned for his retirement, and so when that time came, he lived with worry every day that he wouldn’t have enough to make ends meet.

These two experiences along with my personal dedication to feeling “in control” of my own financial world was the impetus for FinSorting. I love what I do. I love when I’m told “I feel so much better now” from a client after doing the hard work of getting financially sorted out. I’m honored to have a Bachelor Degree is Psychology from Santa Clara University, a certificate in Personal Financial Planning from UC Santa Cruz extension, and to hold the Accredited Financial Counselor (AFCPE) credential.

My current community involvement includes being a Parent Organization Board Member for Carmel High School as well as Vice-President of the Monterey Peninsula Ballet Theatre board.

My family is my everything. I have a wonderful husband (who is also a financial planner, and is my favorite morning coffee partner), and in blended style, we have four children, who are all so very different and special and to whom I have dedicated a lot of my life. Lastly, Chase (aptly named) is our malti-poo who is quite possibly one of the sweetest creatures on this earth.

Outside of work, community, and family, I love coffee, hikes, reading, travel, and and yes…during the COVID Pandemic, I was one of “those people” who took up making sourdough bread. I made so, so much bread.
